Barbeito Sercial 10 Years Reserva Velha

Despite being one of Madeira's smallest producers, founded only in 1946 by Ricardo's grandfather, Barbeito has cultivated an exceptional reputation. Ricardo Diogo de Freitas assumed winemaking responsibilities at the family business in 1993, ushering in an era of continued success and innovation.

This wine blends Sercial grapes from premium vineyards in Jardim da Serra and Ribeira da Janela. The grapes were processed in a continuous press, with fermentation halted at the desired sweetness level by adding 96% abv grape spirit.

The Sercial aged for 10 to 14 years in French oak casks using the Canteiro method. Wines were selected from temperature-stable warehouses, ensuring a well-balanced sugar-to-acid ratio.

For optimal enjoyment, store this naturally aged wine in a cool, dry place and serve at 11-12°C. It's ready to drink upon opening and will remain in good condition for several months without decanting.

Showing aromas of dried fruits, pine, and resin; mineral and fresh on the palate with a long finish. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with oysters, French onion soup, octopus salad, Parmesan cheese, garlic-sautéed mushrooms, and olives.
