From racing car mechanic to winemaker, Borja Perez has become a prominent figure in the Canary Island wine industry. Upon inheriting his family's vineyard in 2011, Perez made the pivotal decision to produce his own wine rather than selling the grapes. His focus shifted to revitalizing local grape varieties, including Listan Blanco, Listan Negro, Marmajuelo, Vijariego Negro, and Baboso Negro. This ongoing endeavor involves both restoring neglected ungrafted vineyards and establishing new plantings.

Perez's brand, Artífice, embodies his commitment to preserving traditional viticulture. By collaborating with local growers and purchasing their small-yield harvests, he aims to produce high-quality wines at reasonable prices. The Artífice Tinto, with a limited production of 4,000 bottles, exemplifies this philosophy. This approachable blend combines Listán Negro and Baboso grapes.
