Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla is named after King Fernando III of Castilla, St. Fernando. He conquered large parts of western Andalucia and discovered the exceptional properties of the soil and climate in this region, ideal for viticulture. The Fernando de Castilla winery was started by the Andrada-Vanderwilde family who have been important landowners and wine growers in the Sherry district for the past 200 years.
A nose of dried fruits, nuts and caramel - reminiscent of a light Christmas pudding. The flavours are rich and concentrated on the palate with a tangy acidity but these are softened by a sweetness which balances it all together.
