Lavradores da Feitoria Tinto

This title translates as Working Farmers Collective, but we know it as Feitoria. This group of passionate farmers have pooled resources to make some of the most characterful wines in the Douro, based on the wide variety of vineyards they possess across the region.

Winemaker Paulo Ruão has the challenge of harnessing all these variables to make truly authentic Douro wines from a winery rather ironically housed in the grounds of the Mateus Palace! Mainly Barroca, Roriz (Tempranillo) and Franca, with a little time in 2nd and 3rd fill barriques. Brilliant value from the Douro, with generous and typical fruit character, and schist undertones, but at no time jammy or overbearing. A great way to introduce people to this region.
