"José Gil, one of the regions' best young talents" - Tim Atkin. José Gil is from the village of San Vicente where his family have been grape growers and winemakers for generations. The fruit is from high-altitude, tiny parcels of 0.2 to 0.4 hectares of old vines, with José's focus being on terroir wines in a Burgundian style, inspiration taken from 2 years working in Burgundy and a year in the Mosel.
Tempranillo with a small amount of Viura from 50 year old vineyards with an altitude of 540m. Manual harvest, destemmed and aged in 300 litre barrels and around 10 months in the medieval cellar in the San Vicente's Castle.
Dark and juicy fruit with herbal notes. Well integrated tannins and fresh acidity.
