"José Gil, one of the regions' best young talents" - Tim Atkin. José Gil is from the village of San Vicente where his family have been grape growers and winemakers for generations. The fruit is from high-altitude, tiny parcels of 0.2 to 0.4 hectares of old vines, with José's focus being on terroir wines in a Burgundian style, inspiration taken from 2 years working in Burgundy and a year in the Mosel.
100% Tempranillo from two sites in Labastida. One is 45 years old, the other 80. Both parcels sit on warmer sites below the village. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aged in concrete and 500L French oak. Bramble fruit and floral tones!
