Diego Planeta was a visionary winemaker who thought in decades and generations. In the 1980s, he convinced his siblings to plant Chardonnay and other non-traditional varieties in Sicily. His immediate goal was to elevate Sicilian wines in the coming decade. Long-term, he envisioned his children and their cousins competing on the global stage with the world's great wine regions.
In 2014, Planeta's family honoured his legacy by creating Didacus, named after Diego's childhood nickname. This wine embodies his ambitious vision for Sicilian winemaking.
Planeta's vineyards span over 250 hectares in the Menfi area, from the coast to hills reaching 400 meters in altitude. They carefully match both native and international grape varieties to each unique terroir.
The resulting white wine is generous and intense, with flavours of apple and peach, balanced by refreshing citrus acidity. It pairs brilliantly with grilled chicken salad.
