Quinta dos Murças Reserva

Quinta dos Murças Reserva is crafted from old vines, aged 35-40 years and beyond, planted in the Douro region. The west-facing vineyards are situated at elevations ranging from 150 to 280 meters (490 to 915 feet) above sea level. This wine embodies the classic 'Quinta' (estate) style, emphasizing terroir to produce elegant wines with significant aging potential.

The winemaking process begins with hand-harvested grapes, which are de-stemmed and crushed. Fermentation occurs in traditional granite 'lagares' using indigenous yeasts, followed by foot treading and pressing in an old-style vertical press. The wine then matures in used French oak casks for 12 months.

On the nose, this Reserva presents a complex, fresh, and elegant bouquet of dark berry fruits, complemented by balsamic notes and subtle spicy hints from oak aging. The palate is firm and concentrated, balanced by lively acidity and well-integrated mature tannins. The finish is long and persistent, maintaining an elegant equilibrium with lingering fruit notes.

This versatile wine pairs excellently with grilled and roasted red meats. It also complements mature hard cheeses, hearty meat stews, or creamy mushroom risotto.
