Herdade do Esporao have been producing wines in the heart of the Alentejo (180km south of Lisbon) since 1987 - and were awarded the prestige "Winery of the Year" early in 2009 for their hard work in 2008, which they also won in 2003.
Alicante Bouschet, Aragonês, Cabernet Sauvignon, Trincadeira and others. Each variety hand picked and vinified separately, fermented in open tanks with robotic plunging and temperature control (22-25ºC), membrane pressed, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Matured for 12 months in 70% American oak and 30% French oak barrels. Following bottling, the wine was aged for at least 8 months before market release.
