Roagna Langhe Rosso 2018

The Roagnas have been making Barbaresco since the late 19th century. After taking over from Alfredo after the 2001 vintage, Luca Roagna has kept true to the traditional wine-making of previous generations whilst fine-tuning it to turn out pure, unique Piedmontese wines that are sought-after the world over. 

Young vines, up to 20-25 years old, are used for this wine. Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats using a pied de cuve made from indigenous yeasts. It lasts about ten days. The ancient, submerged cap maceration technique is then applied, lasting at least two months. The wine ages in a neutral oak barrel and concrete tanks for about five years.

This Nebbiolo from a legendary Piemontese producer is always brilliant! Notes of red cherry, cinnamon, orange peel and subtle spice. Silky on the palate with soft tannins. Drink now or if you're patient enough with some bottle age.
