Created in Guatemala, Ron Zacapa Centenario was established to commemorate the centennial of the city of Zacapa, located in the eastern part of the country. This award-winning rum is produced using the "Sistema Solera" aging method.
The unique Solera system involves a four-part process, beginning with a minimum aging of 6 years in ex-bourbon casks. The rum is then drained and transferred to intermediate casks where it's blended with their "mother rum" fully complete further aged rum. Next, it undergoes a second maturation in charred American oak barrels. This process is repeated two more time, first in Oloroso sherry casks and then in Pedro Ximénez casks. Before the various components are blended to create the final product.
The rum presents soft, sweet aromas of vanilla and caramel, followed by sherried notes and toasted nuts. On the palate, it delivers a complex, full-bodied experience with dried fruit and nutmeg alongside leather and tobacco, beautifully balanced with hints of vanilla and ginger.
