Ronco del Gnemiz Schioppettino

Ronco del Gnemiz, a leading winery in Friuli Venezia-Giulia for over a decade, is owned and managed by Serena Palazzolo and her sons. Acquired in the 1960s, Serena took the helm in the early nineties after her college graduation. Her management, alongside her partner and fellow winemaker Christian Patat, has elevated the winery through a commitment to natural viticulture, low yields, and deep respect for terroir.

While south-facing, the vineyards benefit from sea breezes and Alpine shelter, moderating the summer heat, thriving on Friuli's prized 'Ponca' sandstone soil, a mineral-rich, layered terrain formed over millions of years, imparting a distinctive character to the wines. 

The 10-hectare estate is perched on the hill of Rosazzo with the Schioppettino vines, ranging from 17 to 60 years old, occupying less than one hectare.

The Schioppettino (also known as Ribolla Nera), ages in neutral 228L barriques for 18 months, resulting in a medium-bodied wine with firm tannins, peppery and perfumed aromas of vibrant cherry fruit, and fresh acidity, ideal for pairing with grilled meats, grilled salmon or summer salads
