Yves Cuilleron took over the reins as the 4th generation vigneron in 1987. He is based in Chavanay, just south of Condrieu.
As a totally driven man with a growing family and a part share with other top growers in vineyards on the eastern side of the Rhône, Yves has around 75 hectares and a fantastic, purpose-built and temperature controlled new cellar.
Cuilleron is, above all, a family estate. Having always loved tasting and gastronomy, wine has been part of the Cuilleron family history for the past three generations.
Very attached to local traditions, Yves applies a unique principle in winemaking: “Make it as simple as possible”. All wines are manually harvested, with careful sorting of the grapes and fermentation with exclusively natural yeasts under controlled temperatures.
For Cuilleron, it is not a question of “making a perfect wine”, wine that resemble all the others. He wants wines with the Cuilleron signature, wines marked by the terroir, the vintage but also by an original character or style.
Tasting notes: Bright notes of chamomile and baked apple blend effortlessly with buttery brioche and subtle spice, there's no heavy oak to speak of and the gentle acidity is restrained yet effective in giving this round wine a finishing touch of structure.
