Oenophiles may already be familiar with the name Leflaive, it's synonymous across Burgundy, the family produce some of the regions finest wines. So when it was touted this illustrious name would be making it's way on to bottles of Champagne, the wine worlds ears were pricked. With a very modern approach to production and keen focus on provenance the wines will have immediate appeal to both drinkers and collectors alike. In terms of quality the Champagne is befitting of the iconic name, the standard is incredible. Bottle coding indicates the vineyard site, base wine vintage and dosage, for this example Le Mesnil sur Oger, 2016, 5.0g - An amazing glass of wine, nutty, dry, 100% Chardonnay, a touch flinty with crisp flashes of lime, but the party piece is the salty salinity, it's so complex but still perfectly approachable and moreish. Drink at the beach with some fresh lobster.
